The St. Bernard Conference of St. Vincent DePaul is composed of approximately 15 men and women who meet every Thursday afternoon. Spirituality is an important element at our meetings…beginning and ending with prayer. Our focus is on our neighbors in our community who come to us for help and support.  The Conference has been actively working at St Bernard since 1955.  The Society is an international organization whose motto is “We Help People.”

The neighbors who seek our help are welcomed with open arms.  If there is financial need, we will make a “home visit” to review what their exact need might be.  We can also help them with clothing and furniture through the SVdP Thrift Store in Garden City. Of course we could not do this without the generosity of our parishioners - poor box donations, “blue envelopes” at Christmastime and funds we raise through the “Walk For The Poor” in which we participate in every September.  Our parishioners are constantly donating food to our pantry in which we work closely with Sister Christine to keep the pantry working smoothly, by helping to distribute groceries to our neighbors.
